Something Stuck In Throat After Tonsillectomy, Makes Me Feel Breathless. Is This Normal ?
Hi I had a tonsillectomy about 8 weeks ago I am 37yrs old. my throat isn't sore but I feel like I have something stuck in my throat almost like I have swallowed a bit of a plastic bag. I also feel like I have plegm that I want to cough up but nothing comes up just makes me gag. It is very annoying as it also makes me feel breathless quite a lot of the time. I wondered if tis is normal after op and how long I can expect to feel this way. I am wishing I never had my tonsils removed as living with this is worse than before. Many thanks.
Hi After surgery of tonsils, you might have developed some infection and inflammation of surrounding tissues. So,it is difficult to breath and swallow. I prescribe good Antibiotic like Azithromycin and anti inflammatory drug for my patients with similar problems. Avoid cool drinks Please consult your surgeon and get it examined . Nothing to worry Regards

Something Stuck In Throat After Tonsillectomy, Makes Me Feel Breathless. Is This Normal ?
Hello Thanks for writing to H.C.M. I have gone through your query regarding feeling of as something struk in throat , though your tonsils were removed 6 week back. As you said that you have only feeling as there is something in your throat, but your throat is not sore. After analysing your symptoms it appears as you are most likely having GERD (gastro esophageal reflux disease). To treat it you should take - 1- Avoid spicy food 1- Antacid. 3- Mucolytic. 4- warm saline gargling. 5- Plenty of fluid orally. I hope this will help you. Regards.
