Sphincter Keeps Tearing, Bleed Everytime During Bowel Movements. Is Treatment Required?

I think the correct term is my sphincter keeps tearing. I tear bleed almost every time I have a bowel movement-sometimes worse than others. Once in a while I don t tear. I don t know what makes the difference because it tears wether my movement is firm, very soft-near runny, or very firm. Is it likely something I need to go in to a doctor for? It s just a little embarrassing-not to mention not wanting them putting something in there or messing with it as it is excruciatingly painful even when it s not being messed with at all. Or is there something I can do from home on my own?

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Most likely you do suffer from anal fissure. Sphincter muscle is located under soft tissues and it is hard to tear it with the stool. So it is the mucosa what gets teared. And this wound hurts. It is also possible that you do have hemorrhoids which can also be very painful. Both diseases give fresh blood in stool (not mixed with it).
To get rid of this symptoms you should: avoid constipations, increase fiber rich products and mineral water intake, ask your doctor for Nitroglycerine gel prescription (it relaxes the sphincter so the wound can get healed), have sitz baths with Quercus Cortex. Such treated fissure should get healed in a week or so. If not, colonoscopy should be performed.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
