Spotting, Vaginal Itching And Discoloration. What To Do?

Hi I am having this wierd spotting, however, my cycle has been off for about a week. It is very light and now the inside and outside of my vagina is itchy and tender and sore to the touch. I been spotting for about three days now and it don't seem like it's going away. The skin around my lipia's look a little discolored almost a whitish color. What should I do?

Hi and thanks for the query,

This would require a good clinical evaluation, vaginal examination and some direct exams and cultures of the discharge. A history of unprotected sexual intercourse is necessary to be known since the treatment in this case might also include the sexual partner. Other characteristics like the color and odor of discharge are important to discriminate between common causes of these symptoms like candida, trichomonas vaginalis and gardenerela.

Consulting your family physician would precise all these, getting the tests done, and with the cultures, specific antibiotics to the causative agents prescribed. Avoiding unprotected sex at this point is vital and you might have to encourage your sexual partner, if any, to get himself consulted by a physician.
