Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 7yr old son complained of a stomach ache this evening. He had a bowel movement, later complained of an itchy butt. When he went to the bathroom most recently, he only passed ball of mucas with a hint of pinkish/brown. Same color when he wiped. What is this and should I be concerned?? Thanks.

Hi Thank you for asking HCM Your kid's problem is most likely hemorrhoids.Giving him a warm bath and washing anal area with warm water may give soothing effect.Avoid soap as it can irritate hemorrhoids.Diet is the main culprit in hemorrhoids.Add more foods high in fiber in the child's diet, such as fresh fruits, leafy vegetables, whole-grain breads and whole-grain cereals. Ensure that your child drinks eight glasses of water a day.Remind him to go to toilet when he feels for and not to wait too long when he gets the feel..I usually prescribe hemorrhoid gels also for local application for my patients.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
