Hi,I am Dr. Radhakrishna (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son has been complaining of a stomach ache since yesterday. He has a fever . We took him to the pediatrician and they indicated it was a virus. Today, he vomited twice in the morning. His stomach ache is low on his abdomen , and he says he cannot stand to sit up or walk. Should we go to the ER (of course, I m worried about appendicitis ).
Hello.
Thanks for using forum on HCM.
Of course your concern about appendicitis is justified considering the symptoms you described. Appendicitis presents with pain in the right side of abdomen, vomiting, fever, lethargic and specially in a child where he/she cannot sit up or walk. You should consider visiting the ER as soon as you can, since appendicitis presents with more complications in children. A viral infection of gastrointestinal tract can also present with similar symptoms, however its always better for a second opinion.
Feel free for further queries.
Regards.
