Stomach Pain On Getting Up, Pain On Bending Over, No Fever. Cause Of Worry?
My 10 yr old son has been complaining for two days now. He says that when he goes to get up from sitting down his stomach hurts, right above the underwear line. Below the belly button. Also says it hurts when he bends over. I had him jump up and down and he also says it hurt then. He doesn t seem to have a fever . Is this anything to be worried about? Should I take him to the ER?
Abdominal pain is very difficult to diagnose without examining the child. Simple things like constipation can cause pain like this, but so can more severe issues like urinary tract infection. Whether to wait it out or seek medical care is always a difficult question as well. We certainly do not go to the doctor for every tummy-ache. Since it is severe enough for you to have reached out here I suspect that he should be seen by his pediatrician. If possible, have his regular pediatrician see him. This would be much preferred over going to the emergency department.
