Stomach Pain, Vomitting Black Colour Which Turns Red Later. Advised Endoscopy. What Could It Be?

Sir, I was all right since I went to bed.. I was so normal like every other day but when i laid down on the bed I had some trouble in my stomach. There was a little pain in it. I thought its the food I took as dinner dint digest but the pain was getting imto my head asking me to vomit it.. when I did there was blood including the food I ate for dinner, it was all red so I thought it was food color, I mean I hate chicken but even after qn hour it was all same the pain was still there so I went to vomit the remaining thing which is left over in my stomach and it was all blood, it was black at the beginning but turned pure red in the end, so much blood like in movies. And then i told my parents about it, they called my aunt whos a doctor as well and she asked us to take me to a hospital for endoscopy. What's wrong with my stomach ? Fyi it still pains, cant sleep, just sitting on chair feels better. Anyways what is wrong with my tommy ?

Hi and thanks for this query. I am so sorry to hear about what you are experiencing.

From your symptoms, you have upper gastro-intestinal hemorrhage. The most common causes are bleeding ulcer in the stomach or duodenum, gastritis, tear at the level of the esophageal sphincter during forceful vomiting etc.

From the amount of blood and its description, this constitutes and emergency. You need to be examined promptly and an endoscopy done urgently to look for the source of the bleeding and stop it. This is going too be capital in addressing your problem. Also, you would be evaluated for any possible complications from this bleeding like low blood volume, anemia etc and be treated accordingly. Depending on the cause medications like omeprazole, ranitidine, etc may be prescribed too.

I wish you all the best of outcomes as you get this problem addressed.
Please feel free to return and ask more questions if need be.
