Stretch Marks On Lower Abdominal Area Has Become Itchy And Spreading. Relief With Steroid Pills, Returned On Stopping

I just had my baby 4 weeks ago. I noticed my stretch marks around my lower abdominal area started to become very itchy. When I scratched it left what I thought were welts.
Now the itching/bumps have spread to my thighs, arms bottom of feet and even my finger tips.
My current Dr gave me two different prescriptions.
One being a typical cream and that didn't help much.
Days later then received steroid pills for 6 days. It seemed to have started to work until I ran out and now I'm back to day 1. Itching and bumps that sit right under my skin until irritated.

Hi,

I can understand your concern for itchy and spreading stretch marks on lower abdominal area.

The very first and important thing to tell you is kindly do not use steroids for the problem as these can cause side effects not only to your but your baby also. These steroids can go into your baby during feeding.

There is stretching and loosening of skin after child birth and therefor ecan get mild inflammation and itching. It is best to treat this condition by simple moisturizing cream or nay bland cream like lanoline or petrolatum gelly applied mutiple time a day.

Additionally take antihistamine like loratadine for two times a day which is not only safe for you but for your baby as well.

All the best.
