Sudden Popping Sound And Severe Pain At Base Of Buttocks While Walking Up Steep Hill. Help

Walking up a fairly steep hill when I heard a popping sound and then a tremendous amount of pain at the base of my buttocks. The pain was so intense that I had go call for a ride home. Is this where the hamstring attaches to the buttocks? The back of my left leg still isn't black and blue, and this happened on Sunday, June 16th.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The pain along with the popping sound could be due to a muscle tear due to the stress to which your muscles are not used to. Proper rest, mild pain killers and a hot fomentation in the area will help in reducing the symptoms.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
