Sudden Shudder Shivers Lasting A Second In A 7 Month Baby Girl With Varying Calcium Levels.

7 month baby girl was found to be in the calcium level rate 5. Dr. called parents to take baby to the E R. Baby was tested again and the calcium rate was 10.5. An appointment is scheduled. The baby is suffering from unexplained sudden shudder shivers lasting a second.

according to your query,callcium level (10.5)is normal.according to your statement it seems like myoclonic jerks.you said it resoves in a second.jitteriness or seizures due to hypocalcemia or any other cause will not last just one second like you said.and also you didn't mention whether it occurs during sleep or awake state. its important. because if it occurs during sleep it may be benign sleep myoclonus for which you no need to worry since its a self limiting condition and no need for further evaluation also. so if it reccurs next time you observe it whether it occurs during sleep and if it possible video capture it and it may be useful to diagnose.
