Erythema nodosum is inflammation of the fat cells under the skin.It is caused by an hypersensitive response to an allergen or stimulant.
In 30% to 50% of cases the exact cause is unknown. There are different possible causes such as infection, medications, some vaccines, ulcerative colitis, crohns, sarcoidosis and cancer.
To find out why is it recurring you may need to take her to see a dermatologist.
I hope this helps
