Suffer From Heavy Periods. Fibroids In The Uterus. Ponstan Forte Advised. Feeling Weak,bloating. Advice?
I would like to ask a gynecologist this -
I am 41 years old, have 4 small fibroids in my uterus. Suffering from heavy periods since 2 years. I have been prescribed Ponstan Forte (Mefenamic acid) starting on day 1 of my period, thrice a day for 3 days. That helps the flow. However, my haemoglobin has dropped to 10.59 and I feel weak. So I was suggested Sevista (Ormeloxifene (also known as centchroman) 60mg weekly. I took it for 2 weeks and my period was much better. However, I have been feeling very uncomfortable, weak, bloated since 3 days. (at the end of my period) Is it a side effect? I am hypothyroid and take 75mg daily and allergic to suphur. no other medicial conditions. Please advice.

Feeling weak and bloated after periods may be normal for a few days,as the body adjusts to hormonal changes.However you must recheck your thyroid status on current medication to see if you are getting sufficient dose.It is better to have Diagnostic curettage of your Uterine lining Endometrium to establish the cause for your excess bleeding.You need Iron/Calcium .Vitamin Supplements.Ormeloxifene will also be acting on hormonal receptors.If symptoms persist, you may have to discontinue this drug and see what happens.
