Suffer From Memory Loss. Galantamine Prescribed For Alzheimer's Disease. Will This Lead To Deterioration?
Hi there My mum was suffering from an element of memory loss. She saw a doctor and she was prescribed galantamine and then was prescribed Donepezil Hydrochloride for treatment of alzheimers. Unfortunately as soon as she started taking the medication her memory and/or condition almost immediately deteriorated. I personally think her condition was originally borne out of very old age. My question is can Alzheimers medication lead to a deterioration of a healthy individual's memory/condition?
Hi, No , Alzheimers medication wont cause further deterioration of memory.
Worsening can be either due to following reasons 1) Advanced stage of Alzheimers disease 2) metabolic derangements associated with Alzheimers 3) fresh stroke also to be considered
Need to visit neurologist for neurological examination and evaluation
Get done blood sugar, serum sodium level, and renal functions
Hope this will help you
