Suffering From Bi Polar Depression, Aggressive And Not Taking Medication. Suggestions?

My sister is suffering from bi polar depression from last 10 years. She has started showing the symptoms of depression at the age of 18. From that time she remains normal for some time like for a year and then again she gets into the depression phase. The main problem is that she has become very aggressive and is not willing to take any medicine or see a doctor. She is doing PHD and at the peak of her research she gets the attack and she has to leave the institute. We have no idea what to do? How to convince her to take medicine or make her realize that she is suffering from a disease. Please help me.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for using healthcare magic.
I have gone through your history.

You need to take her to a psychiatrist as regular treatment is mandatory in bipolar mood depression.
If she does not convince, there are some medications like divalprorex, olanzapine or risperdione available which can be given out of knowledge of patient. You may get prescription from your psychiatrist.

She may get improvement with counselling and psychotherapy.

Thanks.
