Hello

You should get a proper refraction done for your child before starting glasses. It is better if the refraction is done under cycloplegics (which cause relaxation of internal muscles of the eye and dilation of pupil). This will help in knowing the exact status of refractive error.

Depending upon the objective readings so obtained, we can be sure if your child needs glasses or not. If the glasses are prescribed, at this age, the glasses need to be used constantly and there is no substitute for it.

Regards
