It results in severe itching, burning and white discharge. For vulvovaginal candidiasis, Clotrimazole vaginal pessaries (vaginal insertion tablets) and topical cream are prescribed. Although you are not married, since you are already sexually active, you can use the pessaries. For infection both inside and outside vagina both pessary and cream should be used. You can use Clotrimazole pessary 200 mg for three consecutive days along with 2% Clotrimazole topical cream 2 to 3 times daily till symptoms disappear. Pessaries melt due to body heat and soothes the irritated mucous membrane and affords relief. Avoid sexual intercourse till your symptoms subside. Generally treatment for partner is not necessary.
