Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

Hirsutism could be because of underlying hormonal abnormality.

I would like to gather some more information regarding your concern in order to help you better...

Do you have any irregularity in Menses?
Do you suffer from acne too?

I would have liked to get a few lab tests in you: S. Testosterone, S. DHEAS, S. LH, S. FSH, S. Prolactin etc along with pelvic ultrasound.

I would have liked to start you on monthly ethinyl estradiol+cyproterone acetate pills for at least 6-12 months to regulate underlying hormonal abnormality associated with PCOD. This would benefit in Hirsutism too.

Along with monthly pills i usually ask my patients to apply a topical eflornithine hydrochloride cream twice daily. It is a hair growth cycle inhibitor and slows down the hair growth rate and thus the requirement for shaving.

Laser hair reduction would be the most reliable way to reduce already existing coarse hair. Laser can be combined with monthly pills and Eflornithine hydrochloride to give the best results.

take care
regards
