Suffering From Loose Motions. Taking Flagyl And Oflox. Feeling Weak. Suggest Diet.

Hi my wife age 22 passing loose motin since wednesday
consulted gastro entrilogis and given dose of metrogyl, 5 saline and oflox on thursday since 1 am till 8 pm and got discharged on 10 pm.
She was fine till friday afternoon and only weekness was there and as per doctor prescription taking Flagyl and oflox. but friday afternoon till now passing motin at the interval of every 2 to 3 hours. just taking soft fods like khichdi. She got very week. giving electroyl powder as ORS. Please suggest the food i can give her and why the motion is not getting stopped even after taking the dose of injection and oral medicine since two days.

Kichidi has rava,high amount of oil and spices which is not so advisable in diarrhea. Probably that is triggering the bowel movements. She should take bland diet like rice gruel, toasted bread, mashed potatoes, banana, apple, yogurt and other fruits. You should continue the ORT.

Ofloxacin will control the bacillary infection but it would be better if an oral medication for amoebic infection is continued although Metrogyl is given IV. She can take a course of Ornidazole as it will kill both amoeba and cyst preventing the relapse. Your treating Dr. will know about these drugs. Probiotics like Lactobacillus will also control diarrhea.
