Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having pain in my left side of my stomach. It feels like a stabbing pain w/a knife when I push on the area or take a deep breath. Because it's on the left side I figured it's not appendix or gull bladder, but I don't know? It started last night and it's not going away. At first I thought it was just gas pain. It won't me up through the night, but I kept saying it was only gas and went back to sleep after taking two antacids. I'm afraid of going to the hospital and they send me home and say it's just gas. That would be embarrassing!
Hello Welcome to health care magic, I appreciate your concern.
Left side stomach pain needs to be evaluated in detail to rule out heart disease like Angina which may manifest as stomach pain at time, Another possibility is pancreatitis or acid peptic disease like gastric ulcer due to stomach hyperacidity.
I would advise you to take antiacidity medicine like pantoprazole or ranitidine group of drugs with antacids
If it doesn't subside and if you are vulnerable for heart disease you should go for an EKG to rule out heart disease.
It it comes to be negative than you should go for an upper gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Hope this answers your question please feel free to ask for follow up question I will be happy to help you. Best wishes
