Hello Sir,
Your 17 yr old granddaughter is suffering from Tourettes. By this time you must have understood the problem she has. Similarly your granddaughter should also be in a position to interpret the condition she has. It is not the electric system, it is a Statistical Manual Disorder. It is originated from the brain. It may be motor or phonic.
It produces Spasmodic contraction of the muscles, most often in the face. Tics can be invisible to the observer, such as abdominal tensing or toe crunching. Eye blinking and throat clearing are the common motor and phonic tics. It may be sudden, rapid, stereotyped.
Treatment: admit her in a school where tic children are getting admitted, Discuss with teacher that the proper approach will make her
thrive by creating proper atmosphere not only in school, but also in home.
The tics can be diminished, by counseling and medicines or behavior therapies such as habit reversal may be considered.
Maintain a correct record of incidents and the environment prior to symptoms and try to determine the trigger and avoid it.
On your part encouraging her on all aspects is very very important.
I wish her the best in her recovery
Best wishes for your granddaughter
