I have been taking 75mg venlafaxine for about 3 months now. I have very long hair so shedding hair is normal. But this past month ive been noticing my hair shedding alot more than normal. my shower gets clogged, every time i brush my hair my brush is full of hair and when i run my hands through my hair i have a handful of hair. I used to have very thick hair and now i can tell its thinning alot. What can i do the effexor really controls my anxiety but i dont want to go bald.
Hi Thanks for your query. Noted your history of excessive hair fall which you feel is due to 75 mg Venlafaxine. This is a very rare complication of this medicine and you want to continue the Effexor as it is giving you a good relief of anxiety. I would advise you the following: Since it is possible that there may be other reasons for hair fall, it is wise to consult a Dermatologist for a proper diagnosis, to get confirmation about the cause and get treated properly. If there is another reason you can certainly continue with Effexor and enjoy life. But remember that hair fall itself can cause too much anxiety.
