Hello,
I don't know what kind of drug is
glycogen and I've searched it in google without any results. Glycogen - if this is the right name of the drug - would be a highly unsuccessful name (a blunder really) for
diabetes, any doctor could point that out! Any chance your drug is called "Glycomet"?
Anyway, I suppose your drug contains
metformin 500mg and is an extended release preparation, right?
If this is the case (I'm sure this is it) then taking 1500mg per day is not too much. Actually you could go further and take even more of it (2000-2500mg per day) although I would not advice you to do so, because higher dosages have a diminishing added benefit while the potential side-effects become more and more likely.
The best regimen for type 2 diabetes includes daily physical activity (walking for 30 minutes every day - a little faster than usual) and diet measures. If you're
overweight, you should try to loose weight by avoiding high fat food and avoiding
carbohydrate containing food with a high
glycemic index. Simple carbohydrates like sugar are the worst. Eating a lot of fiber helps for blood glucose.
If you do all the above and you still have high blood glucose then you'd better add a second tablet (a different drug) or start insulin. Your glucosylated
hemoglobin A1c is a very important parameter for such decisions.
I hope I've shed some light on your problem.
If you have more questions, I'll be glad to help.
Kind Regards!
