Suggest A Good Pain Reliever That Can Be Taken After A Surgery
Hi, I am having surgery tomorrow to remove a skin cancer off my nostril. Because of an abnormal EKG they plan on using a local and a sedative to perform the procedure. I am very sensitive to pain meds such as Hydrocodone and oxycodone. OTC s, such as Aleve, Ipuprofen, aspirin burn my stomach and I cannot take Tylenol due to Hep C. What would you recommend?
Hello, This is Dr. Papaqako answering your question. Thank you for posting to HCM.
I read very carefully your question. Since its not possible for you to take Tylenol, the next line of choice that are recommended are the simple analgesics like Ibuprofen or Aspirin, because they have less side effects, and do not create dependence like Hydrocodone or oxycodone do.
If I was your caring doctor, I would recommend to take Ibuprofen in the form of suppositories, so you will avoid to have the side effect of stomach burning.
If that is still something you can not tolerate, try taking it by mouth, but after meals, and together with Omeprazole 20mg once/day before breakfast.
Hope this helps, Take care.
