Suggest A Substitute For Creon Tablet

My husband is on Creon and takes 10 pills a day, however the medication is extremely expensive and is now costing almost $6,000.00 for a 3 month supply Is there an alternative medicine for Creon that is less expensive but has the same effect as the Creon. Once he meets the doughnut hole he will be responsible for 72% of the cost. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

well,i can very well understand your concern regarding the VERY HIGH COST of CREON....well creon contains the constituent named " pancrelipase " which in turn is a combination of 3 enzymes named "protease" "lipase" and "amylase"...these enzymes are the digestive enzymes and their function is to digest proteins,fats and starch present in the food...these 3 specific enzymes are secreated normally from the pancreas and hence this drug is given to the patients who are suffering from certain chronic diseases of pancreas such as cystic fibrosis / chronic pancreatitis etc in which the affected pancreas is not able to produce these digestive enzymes

below i am giving the different brand names of drugs which are cheaper than creon and contains the same constituents i.e pancrelipase so you can change creon and buy whichever of these is available in your region ----

(1) PANCREAZE

(2) ZYMASE

(3) PERTZYE

(4) VIOKACE

(5) ULTRASE

(6) ZENPEP
