Hallow Dear,
If you have completed four months of
pregnancy, you are in second trimester of pregnancy. Before attempting termination of pregnancy, please verify the law and act about termination of pregnancy in the country where you are residing.
According to WHO guidelines, even second trimester pregnancy also can be effectively and safely terminated by medicines. I shall provide you information of the medicines; however, they are not 'over the counter' medicines. So please procure them by Obstetrician's prescription, take them by his/her advise in prescribed dose only. In second trimester, these medicines are not taken as domiciliary treatment. You have to get admitted in the medical facility for these procedures.
Mifepristone &
Misoprostol Regimen:
Tab. Mifepristone orally followed after 36-48 hours by Tab. Misoprostol orally, sublingually or vaginally are effective medicines. Tab. Misoprostol is to be repeated every 3 hours up to 5 doses.
Misoprostol alone Regimen:
Tab. Misoprostol are given vaginally or sublingually every three hours upto 5 doses.
Usually within 24 hours the termination takes place.
These medicines are known to cause developmental abnormalities in the baby. Hence, in case of failure of these medicines, the decision should not be reverted to continuation pregnancy. The pregnancy then should be terminated by surgical methods.
Surgical procedures like Dilatation and Evacuation of the
uterus or Extrauterine instillation of Ethacredine lactate may have to be instituted in case of failure of Medical termination of pregnancy. Alternatively they may be used as a primary line of termination.
I hope this helps you.
