Suggest Alternate Medications For Constipation For A 16 Week Pregnant Woman
Hi I'm 28 and 16 weeks pregnant and its my first baby. I usually get constipated very easily and in pregnancy it has worsen. I'm using Isphagul (pure psyllium husk) mixed in water and now i'm having a bowel movement every alternative day. That's some how fine, but now I have a severe pain while passing stools and sometimes it bleeds. Its painful for the next 3 to 4 hours and then the pain disappears but the pain is too much and I cant bear. Hence I started using Xyloproct and Betadine ointments in that affected area. Is it good to use these ointments during pregnancy? If not please suggest some alternative and help.
Xyloproct has been used widely during pregnancy, and there have been no reports of any ill effects on the baby so you can use it with no problem. I don't recommend using betadine during pregnancy. Some advices that I can give to you are: -Drink more water. -Eat more fiber, especially soluble, non-fermentable fiber. -Eat probiotic foods or take probiotic supplements.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
