Suggest Alternate Over The Counter Medication For Glycomet

I am 78 years old now and started diabetes about six years ago. For three years I was on Glycomet GP1 twice a day, and then once a day. Three years ago, as a change of doctor was compulsive due to shift in location, I was put on Ziten 20. I have put on a lot of weight since . Could I revert to Glycomet GP1 ?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, you can switch back to the glycomet GP1 once you were not having any side effects from its use when you used it before and your blood sugars were controlled.

It is one of the more effective medicines for diabetes. You can speak to your doctor about making the change.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
