Suggest Alternate Remedy For UTI

Hi I have had regular (every 2-3 years) UTI's since I was about 6 years old, I had one bad occurence at that age and discomfort and slow urination during my teens. Then when I was about 21 I had a week in hospital with a UTI. Anti Biotics seem to clear these up, but I would say urination 'never' feels good to me. I drink plenty to stave off infections as best I can. Recently a colleague was diagnosed with a PUJ obstruction, this and a PUV obstruction potentially, appear to be the answer to my problem. I see these require surgery and he recently had some investigative surgery which gave him terrible complications and infections. I'm worried that the problem is 99% either PUJ or PUV, after 40 years of this, and looking at the information, I'm convinced this is the cause, the symptoms match exactly. Is surgery the only option and have there been any advances in the way these are dealt with to improve the chances of a successful operation?

Urologist 's  Response
Recurrent UTI with poor urinary flow since 6 yrs of age... probably u hv puv; may be associated with sec reflux. U need urine routine and culture and Ultrasound KUB. Ultrasound KUB will rule out hydronephrosis sec to puj, if found will require CECT KUB. If not, MCU is required to rule out PUV and reflux. PUV needs fulguration of the valve. Even then symptoms may persist sec to valve-bladder syndrome. But in your case since it has been long time since u have the disease, the severity may be less. But then nothing can be said without investigative reports.
