Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest Alternative For Quiniodochlor For Amoebiasis
Stool examination has confirmed amoebiasis. Quiniodochlor used to be very effective against it but is no longer available. Ofloxacin-Ornidazole prescribed by the doctor didnt work as well as a combination of quiniodochlor-sulphaguanidine used to. please suggest alternative medication, considering age=80 years, a history of NIDDM and event free CHD
When treating amoebiasis the usual treatment is a amebicides like metronidazole, ornidazole or tinidazole. If these do not work then she could have a more invasive disease and need additional treatment with paromomycin and iodoquinol. These would need to be prescribed by a physician and I would recommend she visit her doctor to have these prescribed
I hope this answers your question. if you have any further questions please contact us again.
