Suggest Alternative Medication For Migraines Apart From Fioricet
I need to know why my medicine fioricet is no longer available according to my pharmacy and what can I do . That is the only med. I take that works for my migraine and Chiari. Also is the med. esgic the same med. I can not take the generic fioricet. It makes me sick
I am sorry you are not being able to find your usual treatment. I understand it's frustrating to finally find a drug that works and then not to be able to get it anymore. Fioricet contains 3 different drugs inside: 300 mg Acetaminophen+50mg Butarbital+40 mg Caffeine. I don't know why it's not available anymore in your pharmacy, it should be. There has been a change in 2014 in the acetaminophen content of Fioricet (used to contain 325mg), so the old formulation should gradually be out, but you should find the new one. Perhaps it's only a temporary distribution problem of the manufacturer which has to replace the old version with the new one.
However Esgic is a suitable substitute as it has the same components in same dosages as the old Fioricet (325mg+50mg+40mg), so I believe it should be as effective.
I hope to have been of help.
