Suggest Alternative Over-the-counter Medication For Glumetza

I AM ON ss disability AND PAY FOR THE PREMIUM CIGNA PART D. MY CO PAY FOR GLUMETZA 270 TABLETS EVERY 90 DAYS WENT FROM $80 TO $668. I CANNOT AFFORD THIS MEDICINE ANY LONGER. I TRIED MANY FORMS OF METFORMIN FROM VARIOUS MANUFACTURERS, BUT UNFORTUNATELY THREW THEM UP W/IN MINUTES OF TAKING THEM. WHAT CAN I DO? DOES YOUR COMPANY HAVE ANY OTHER DIABETIC MED OTHER THAN GLUMETZA THAT I CAN AFFORD?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Glumetza contains metformin hydrochloride in extended-release form. It is an oral antihyperglycemic medication used in the management of type 2 diabetes.
You can take the same composition drug in extended release (ER) or sustained released (SR) forms for your condition.
Some of the alternatives are Cetapin XR, Daomer SR, Duomet ER, Formin SR.
Kindly consult your Physician for appropriate dosage and advise before you change the medication.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
