Suggest Alternative To Cosopt For Treatment Of Glaucoma
Hi , I currently suffer from glaucoma and use cosopt eye drops to lower the pressure. I believe its having a negative effect on me in terms of slowing me down, is there a better alternative to cosopt and also in terms of getting a operation done what is the success rate of one to lower pressure and would it be beneficial to try it? Hope to hear from you soon
Hello It seems from the history that you are having glaucoma and you are on treatment by cosopt eye drops. Cosopt eye drops contain timolol and dorzolamide. As of now the first drug oc choice for glaucoma are prostaglandin eye drops like latanoprost. The surgeries for glaucoma are mainly in the form of trabeculeectomy and it is usually indicated in specifice types of glaucoma like angle closure glaucoma and glaucoma no responding to mediucal treatment. The success rate is good but it is not necessary in cases which respond to medical treatment.
Hence I advice you to consult your eye doctor for further evaluation and treatment accordingly.
Thank you
