Suggest Alternative To Zoladex Due To Side Effects
Hi. I am suffering badly with side affects of having a 28 day zoladex stomach injection 3 weeks ago. I have been given anastrozole 1mg to take daily also. I have advanced er+ breast cancer. The bone pain and stiffness is constant and nagging, very dibilitating. Also have developed itchy skin rash and a tooth abscess. Paracetamol alone doesn t touch pain. I understand why this course of treatment has been prescribed with my er+ cancer! but the side effects, the constant pain, are so seriously affecting my quality of life, I am considering not continuing with this treatment, although am not sure of any alternative?
I am so sorry to hear about this problem you are facing. Unfortunately, this drug is a rare medication and has no many alternatives to address the disease condition. My advise would be that you talk to your oncology team so that they can get you in touch with persons who can manage your sever symptoms appropriately especially the pain. Healthy diet, regular exercise, much fruits and vegetables would be helpful. I also recommend that they give you more potent pain medications.
I hope this helps. I wish you well and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
