Im given oxycodone 7.5 from my dr but they only give me bout a hr of relief and there written every 6hrs im a 6ft 5inche man weighing almost 350 lbs what would b alittle better to take ive not been on any meds for pain sence 2000 I was on methadone 10mgs every 4hrs but I was alot bigger so dr said we would give them a try I dont want to go back on methadone again is there anything that last longer like methadone that my dr will most likely want to try instead
Oxycontin is a long-acting form of oxycodone that might be helpful in your case. There are also fentanyl skin patches that release a narcotic pain med through your skin to maintain steady levels and control chronic pain. Sustained release morphine is another option. You might want to consult a specialist in chronic pain management if you haven't already. They can often figure out effective pain control regimens using different modalities along with medications. Hope this helps.
