Hello,

Looking at your fasting and after food glucose levels, it appears that metformin is helping quite well in controlling the blood glucose. The after food level is marginally high. Which can be well controlled by adjusting the food intake, reducing the carbohydrates and increasing protein / fat content of the food. Plus increasing the overall physical activity.

Metformin is one of the safest and probably the best drug for treatment initiation in T2 DM. The other option (if metformin is not be used) can be a drug like Sitagliptin (5 mg once or twice after food) or Vildagliptin (50 mg once or twice a day after food). However, since the control is fairly good, metformin can be continued with above mentioned adjustments.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
