Hello,
First of all, if you feel you have damaged the ligament how did you diagnose it? Any physician mentioned or any
MRI taken. If neither of it then MRI is suggested. We need to check the grade of
injury first of all. If it's fully torn then stabilization of the knee in crepe bandage or
knee brace is advised. Icing to reduce the swelling is advised too. Since it's a total torn so we need to ask you to not put any weight on the injured limb.
In case it's partially torn then need to check out the grade 1/2 of injury. The procedure is same as above. Only in this, you can do simple knee range of motion exercises, static Quadriceps, static
hamstring, straight leg raise, ankle toe movements, core stability, hip muscle strengthening etc. Since you must be aware of the post ACL reconstruction
rehabilitation program which you can follow.
Please note, if fully torn then no weight application. If only partial torn then the weight bearing should go from 25-100% over a period of 4 weeks.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
