Suggest Best Vitamin B12 Tablet, Dosage And Frequency
Hi Doc. I am a vegan who run ultramarathons and also does arduos trekking and I have taken a neurobion tablet in the morning for B12 ( contains cyanocobalamin 200 mcg) however since I ran out of B12 medicine I bought methylcobalamin 500 mcg from a pharmacy and had this after lunch. Which according to your opinion is the best form of B12 I should consume and how frequently. Thanks again
Hello, Thank you for asking! 200mcg of cyanocobalamin is a very small amount to cover for the daily requirements. The daily requirements are smaller than that but not all of it is absorbed. Higher dosages are required to achieve higher absorption. 1000mcg is the usual dosage taken with an empty stomach. Not every aspect of B12 treatment has been clarified by reliable trials. You should take it though as long as you abstain from eating meat because B12 deficiency may cause serious problems to your health - and if not treated promptly even irreversible ones.
