Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!
I read carefully your concerns. From your prescription it seems to be a severe thyrotoxicosis which must be monitored much more frequently than once in 6 weeks.
If you are taking PTU it can affect the liver, but methimazole doesn't have such a side effect.
If your symptoms are getting worse after these 6 weeks of treatment than you should ask for prompt medical supervision, but if you feel your self better than you can wait until your next appointment.
The efficiency of treatment is seen within the first month. i.e: the heart rate is normalized, no more sweating, insomnia ect.
The thyroid gland may remain swollen for some months, it is not an indicator of treatment efficiency.
Wish you good health and it will be a pleasure to answer future questions.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta Guni
