Ive had diarrhea for a week now. I went to a walk in clinic a few days ago. He prescribed something like decyclomine. The diarrhea is still coming about 5or6 times a day. I noticed its never the same color. The most alarming one is the light brown with black specs. I dont have any illnesses Im a fully healthy 25 yr old woman. At least I thought up until a week ago. What do I do from here? ?
Hello I share your concern Consistent diarrhoea for few days warrants detailed evaluation to find out the causative organism for it This could be due to infection like bacterial viral or protozoa
In my opinion you should take an appointment with your doctor for examination, checking for signs of dehydration and stool test for ova, cyst or protozoa
You may require a course of antibiotics under supervision of your doctor Meanwhile maintain good hydration Have plenty of fluids including ORS and fruit juices as much tolerated to counter dehydration and electrolyte imbalances You can have lemon water mixed with salt and sugar
Hope this helps you wish you good health and speedy recovery.
