Suggest Cause And Effects Of Urine Retention

My son says that he hasn t been able to pee for a day now , that when he feels like he starting to go...it s like there is a plug in there, and then the urge to go...goes away. I m concerned that if he isn t going that he might have the side effects of retaining the urine. I ve never had such a problem, so this one has me stumped as a parent. I m wondering if he feels he s lacking attention or even nervous about something, or if it is serious and I need to take him in.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

You should go to the doctor and have a bladder scan performed to see if he has any urine retention. His symptoms may also be suggestive of constipation, which usually can be treated with movicole sachets.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
