i have recently be diagnosed with epididymitis. All tests for STIs came back negative, and urine sample was completely normal. I would just like to know what the probable causes are since i have been on antibiotics for over two weeks now and the problem hasn t gone away . it is starting to worry me and i really don t trust Google.
Hi. Thanks for your query. The causes of the epididymitis is always die to an infection. This can be specific such as due to Tuberculosis or non-specific due to bacterial infection. The infection mostly comes from the seminal vesicles and prostate. The urine reports may be normal even after a single dose of any antibiotic, hence not much trustworthy.
I would advise you in such a case: -Ultrasonography and color doppler examination. -Clinical evaluation by an Urologist. -Repeat tests of blood and urine in particular. Continue the antibiotic treatment and change over to another if there is no response with the previous ones and the reports indicate so.
In case of chronic epididymitis, and if the family is complete the diseased part can be excised.
