Hi,
Welcome to HCM!
I am sorry to learn about your condition.
First of all, it is necessary to ascertain the site of pain, whether superficial, musculoskeletal or deeper. There might be several factors causing pain in the region of rib.
Are you suffering from cough as well? You might experience
severe pain in
chest pain if your pleura is inflammed. It typically increases when you cough or take a deep breath and is relieved when you lie down on the same side.
Chest pain is the commonest presenting symptom of
Myocardial Infarction (
Heart attack). If you are experiencing anxiety,
restlessness or radiation of pain to your left shoulder and arm, you require urgent attention and an ECG has to be done to rule out MI.
It might also be due to acidity, for which you will have to take antacids.
If there is some recent history of trauma, then you might have a rib frature.
These are some of the commonest causes of pain in the chest. Hope this information helps.
Feel free to ask if you have any doubt.
With regards,
Dr. Sridhar
