Suggest Cause For Rise In Neutrophil Levels In Pregnant Woman
Hi, I am 6 months pregnant and just received by blood test results, which show my neutrophil count as 8716, which is apparently high. I have pre-existing high blood pressure. Should I contact by doctor and arrange an earlier appointment? I am not due to see him for a few weeks?
Hi, Thanks for consulting us. This is slightly raised only. In pregnancy WBC ( Neutrophils are one among them) count may be slightly raised. Most labs tell non-pregnant values as normal range. Apart for pregnancy Neutrophils may be raised when there is an acute infection. If you have no clinical sign of infection like pain, fever, pussy discharge, any local redness, or leaking & your TLC count is less than 15000, there is nothing much to be concerned. If there is some obvious infection or leaking please report to your doctor urgently. Take care.
