Hi, for the past few months I am having a problem in recognizing the words when someone talks in low volume. I consulted ENT specialist and was told that I have a hole in both my ears and need to be operated. If I do the surgery would my hearing be restored to normal? Is there any major complications involved in this ? Can I do surgery for both my ears together ? I am worried so much please advise.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your history, you have tympanic membrane perforation. hearing loss is because of that. Hearing can be restored with surgery and very little risk involved in surgery. You can do surgery for both ears. Complications are also very less like bleeding, incomplete healing.
Take care.
