Suggest Cure For Persistent Dry Cough

I have had a dry cough for weeks now, I went to the doctor at the beginning of the week and they told me it could be the start of bronchitis, they gave me three days on prednisone and five days on benzonatate, I am currently on day four of the five on benzonatate and finished the prednisone and am still having this cough, and not feeling much beter. Is there anything else I can take alone with the benzonatate that will help relieve my cough symptoms?

Hi,
From history it seems that as you are having dry cough for long time, it might be due to allergic bronchitis.
But common condition called Eosinophilia is very common giving this type of cough not responding to other cough suppressant medicines.
Go for complete blood checking with Eosinophil count.
If this condition is there then with simple line of treatment you will be alright.
In this case a course of Di-Ethyl carbamazine ( Hetrazan or Unicarbazone forte ) for 7-10 days will give you cure.
Consult your doctor and discuss about this problem.
Ok and take care.
