Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My patellar tendon is shifting around as I put weight on it, it was sudden onset, not related trauma or potential injury, it just came out of nowhere. The pain is primarily at the inside top, it feels like the tendon, not the entire patella is shifting across the grove in my femur. I ve had the ACL/MCL/PCL replaced in this (left) leg. One of the ligaments was replaced with a segment of my patellar tendon that was surgically removed. The pain is extremely sharp. A brace and knee strap do not do much. It started about 4 days ago and seems to be getting exacerbated
I have studied your case and I think that it can be a donor site related problem. Whenever some part of the patella is taken for bone grafting than it causes some sharp edges around patella and It can cause such pain. I would suggest you to apply ice, compression bandage and take tablet Etoricoxib for pain relief. If there is persistence of the pain than I would recommend you to meet your doctor and repeat x ray. Usually this type of pain is short lived and improve without any problem. Some time patient may need to avoid squatting, cross leg siting and kneeling down on the floor.
