Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...I was diagnosed with IBS about 3 years ago and was prescribed medicine to take daily. Its been about 2 years ago that I quit taking the medicine because I became pregnant and wasn't able to take the medicine. Well now I have blood in my stool and haven't been able to eat hardly anything in the last few days due to feeling sick to my stomach. any suggestions? I can't get into my gastreonalogist until November.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
IBS is a kind of functional disorder and it is not the pathology itself. Blood stained stool needs confirmation and without this, it can be taken as granted for any treatment. Most of the time, diet is the cause for the change of color of stool, that mimic blood, or it may be constipation. So first try to change the diet, second have fiber containing diet and drink more water and stop worrying.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Akhtarhusain
