Hi, my grandmother had water blisters on her thighs from kidney disease (according to doctors) it has been a month and she is currently getting dialysis. The water blister have popped which caused intense discomfort, however they are not healed as of yet. What do u suggest to speed up the healing process?
Hi and welcome to HCM Kidney disease delays healing of skin wounds because it affects the blood supply, increases toxins in the system and may also be related to diabetes and hypertension which delay wound healing and cause infections. Follow all instructions regarding the kidney disease. As for the blisters, Clean the areas with clean water or saline, not strong antiseptics once a day. Apply a light layer of antiseptic like fusidic acid over them. Do not cover it with tight bandage. Dont allow pus/ discharge to collect over the wound. It is very important to allow circulation to the area. If she is bedridden, then it is important not to continually lie in the same position over the wounds and to turn every couple of hours. A water mattress would help in case of sores. Also keep a check on sugar levels etc. Hope this helps.
