Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I am currently on 97.5 mgs. of Remeron, 600 mgs. of gabapentin 3x a day, and 2.5 mgs. clonazepam daily. I have read on most doctor and drug websites that the highest recommended dose of Remeron is 45 mgs. a day. But I have researched that doses as high as 120 mgs. a day have been prescribed by some doctors safely and with good results. Can you all please tell me if my daily Remeron dose of 97.5 mgs. is too high or dangerous or if it s okay for me to continue on that dose?
The maximum dose of remeron can vary according to why it is being used. For depression and insomnia, the maximum dose is normally 45 mg a day.
For hot flashes and post traumatic stress disorder the maximum dose is normally 60 mg a day. There may be doctors who have prescribed this medication repeatedly that may use higher doses but the above are normal recommended maximum doses.
You may want to discuss your dose with your doctor.
I hope this helps
