Suggest Diet Recommendations For Inflammatory Bowel Disease

my mother is 83 and suffers from IBD-D. she has been fighting it for several weeks now and is about down. I m her son and I need to now if she should seek medical attention because of the duration of the she been sick and if there are foods that she can eat that will help her regain her strength? She is very stubborn and thinks that a Doctor will not be of any help because of her experiences in the past. Thanks

Hello,

Some advice that I can give to you for foods to eliminate is:

- Broccoli, onions, and cabbage
- Fried or fatty foods such as chips
- Milk products such as cheese or ice cream
- Alcohol
- Caffeine in coffee, tea, and in some fizzy drinks
- Chocolate

You can consume foods with a healthy, balanced diet of three meals 2 to 3 snacks a day. It is important to ensure your diet is rich in fiber, low in fat and includes lots of fruits and vegetables.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
